Greene County Poorhouse

Guests are asked to arrive between 6:30PM & 6:45PM. After signing in guests will be given a brief history of the location by the staff. A free roam style investigation will take place between 8:00PM-4:00AM. Guests may bring their own paranormal equipment or borrow ours! Haunted Nights staff will be on hand & investigating right alongside you the entire night. Guests will have access to multiple buildings & the poorhouse grounds during the investigation. Free water, soda & snacks will be available all night!

No one under the age of 14 permitted. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. 

All sales final. No refunds. 

There is no smoking in any of the buildings during paranormal investigations, however, there are two  designated smoking areas, one on the Front Porch and one at the Ramp at the Back door of the main building. Please do not throw Cigarette Butts in the grass, Receptacles are provided at both designated  smoking areas.

History

Welcome to the Former Greene County Home, also known as an Almshouse or Poor Farm. The Greene County Home Opened in 1862 and Operated for a little over a century seeing well over 6000 residents or “inmates” during its years of operation. Though the facility was designed to house those who were poor and destitute, in practice it became an asylum very much like many of the State Hospitals in the Region, but on a smaller scale. The early years of the buildings history proved to be, at times, very violent. Inmates were chained to walls in the basement and overcrowding was common place, leading to local and national criticism of the horrific living conditions.

Many of the Staff and Guests report unexplained footsteps, sounds, smells and many have even witnessed full bodied apparitions. Many of the troubled souls who once lived at the Former County Home still walk the halls and make their presence known. Join Haunted Nights on a full investigation of this amazing historic location full of artifacts from its past. With different themed rooms ranging from a "military room" and "victorian parlors" to the terrifying poor house cells there is no shortage of places to encounter past residents who have never left.
